Janie, the eternal Peter Pan

Janie is an attractive Boomer born in 1940. She is a Gemini and has many interests, including fitness. As a result, she has nearly the same figure she had when she was in her youth. She dresses very fashionably and always has an up-to-the-minute hairstyle. As a result, she is always thought to be many years younger than she is.

Janie was widowed at the age of 51, and after a few years of being alone, she decided to join the Widow and Widowers Club in her city. She continues to be a member to this day because of the many social activities that the Club puts on.

Even though Janie has had many offers of marriage, she remains single. Janie enjoys going out dancing and she admits that she hasn’t found a man yet who could keep up with her! She might say “Yes” when she DOES. There is probably a Janie in your city.

Amelia, the shy introvert

Amelia was a high school librarian for most of her life. When she retired, she thought her life was over. She was too shy to think of venturing out on her own to join social clubs. As fate would have it, she accepted the invitation to attend the 45-year reunion of her high school, where she met her old boyfriend, Ralph. Ralph had been widowed two years earlier and was hoping to renew old friendships at the reunion to ease his loneliness.

Ralph and Amelia not only renewed their friendship, they married one year later. There is probably an Amelia or a Ralph that you might run into at YOUR high school reunion.

Harold, the retired military man

After years of moving to a new city every two years, Harold retired from the military and returned to his hometown. He and his wife enjoyed the relative calm of their new life, but they joined a travel club and took a yearly trip to a different country each year.

Five years after Harold’s retirement, his wife passed away. He dropped out of the travel club for a year, but soon realized that a trip with a group of people would ease his sadness and loneliness. Ralph found other widows and widowers on the trip, and they began socializing when the trip was over. Through his new acquaintances, Ralph took up bridge and eventually met his new wife through a bridge social.
